But he still thinks of her as ‘my baby’ and this year, as a Christmas present to himself, the 82-year-old widower travelled 200 miles from his home in Ipswich for a poignant reunion. 

He sobbed as he saw Salome, now a 36-year-old mother of three, emerge from behind a bush with her one-year-old son Kukena clinging to her leg. She stared at Mr Smith for a few seconds before attending to her son.

‘She looks really well,’ said Mr Smith. ‘It’s so nice to see her. I am choked.’ Salome’s story was reported by the Daily Mail in August 1976, when she became the first gorilla born at London Zoo. Her mother, Lomie, struggled from the start to rear her daughter. She was not feeding her properly and became increasingly irritable, with two scars on Salome’s head to prove it.

So Mr Smith, who was second in command of the Ape House, took Salome back to his flat in Cricklewood every evening for the next year until she grew into a strong and healthy youngster.

He and his wife took turns to wake up in the night and feed her every three hours from a baby’s bottle filled with warm, diluted, evaporated milk. 

John Partridge, senior curator of animals at Bristol, saluted Mr Smith and his wife, who died in 2008, for doing such a good job as foster parents.  

‘Salome is a brilliant mother and that is all down to this guy,’ he said. ‘She has had babies, rears them herself and is a strong member of the family. All that is down to how she was reared.’

Lynsey Bugg, assistant curator of mammals, said: ‘I do not think she necessarily knew who Ron was but there was a definite recognition of familiarity. He’s done such a good job. She’s an amazing animal in terms of teaching other members of the group about mothering. 

‘To see the man who made it all possible is magical. The whole team have loved having Ron here and will continue to keep in touch with him.’

As Mr Smith left dabbing his eyes, he called back to the zoo-keepers: ‘Look after my Sali for me.’

And on the long journey home, he said: ‘This will stay in my memory. I am overwhelmed. It has been a wonderful day – the best. Salome  was a big part of our life. We never had children so she was special.'

Although at the time Tyson insisted he was fit enough to carry on with the fight, referee Mitch Halpern stopped the bout in the 11th round saying Tyson looked flushed, was sweating profusely and appeared to be lactating heavily from his left breast.

Hitman shoots and kills aspiring rapper in broad day light in NYC

Not just in broad day light, buy in a crowded street in Manhattan. The New York Police Department have released shocking CCTV footage which showed Brandon Lincoln Woodard, 31, from Los Angeles, walking and texting on his phone last Sunday as his killer walked almost beside him on a busy Manhattan Street. The unidentified gunman pulled a gun out of his pocket (pictured above), and shot Brandon in the head at close range. Police believe it was a targeted hit.

The cold-blooded killer was said to have followed Brandon for about ten minutes before killing him. After shooting Brandon, he simply turned and walked away, then got into a waiting Lincoln MKZ sedan and fled. He is still at large. Police are hunting for the suspect and detectives are gathering information at the scene.

December 21: End of Mayan calendar or end of the world

 

CANCUN, MEXICO: Gonzalo Alvarez, who had just arrived in Cancun for two weeks of revelry linked to a major milestone in the Mayan calendar, seemed reasonably cheerful for a man about to swallowed up by the Apocalypse. “We came to party and to get ready for the beginning of a new era,” said the 39-year old architect, as he gathered his luggage from a baggage carousel at Cancun’s airport.

Alvarez had traveled to Mexico from Florida to witness firsthand the beginning of a new Mayan era on December 21, 2012, which will be marked with celebrations throughout southern Mexico and Central America.

Mexico is one of five countries preparing to observe the date, which marks the end of a more than 5,000-year era, according to the Mayan “Long Count” calendar, which began in 3114 BC.
For many people in this region, December 21 will be a date for celebration.

The start of the new Mayan calendar also is big business in this region, with tourism offices in no fewer than five countries aggressively promoting the date.

Millions of tourists are expected to flood into the region for celebrations that will include fireworks, concerts and other spectacles held at more than three dozen archaeological sites.

In addition to Mexico, celebrations will be held in Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador or Honduras, and at least two heads of state — President Otto Perez of Guatemala and President Porfirio Lobo of Honduras — have confirmed that they will take part in festivities in their respective countries.
But while some prepare for the end of the Mayan calendar, others fear with trepidation the date will usher in the end of the world.

Some New Age spiritualists are convinced of a December 21 “doomsday” foretold by Mayan hieroglyphs — at least according to some interpretations.

The prophesy they refer to is found in an ancient Mayan monument in Tortuguero, Mexico, and is believed to have been left by a Mayan ruler.

The Mayan leader, fresh from defeat on the battlefield, declared that the military setback was but one event in a larger cycle of time that would end in 2012.

Many scholars say the prophesy was misinterpreted, however, and was not meant to suggest the end of all time, but simply the end of the old Mayan calendar and the beginning of a new one.

Indigenous experts scoff at the faulty and sensational misreadings of the Mayan calendars.
“The Mayans had a cyclical concept of time, not one that ever focused on the end of the world,” Mexican archaeologist Jose Romero said.

Romero based his conclusions on his studies of the carved stone known as the Tortuguero Monument, which now is broken into six pieces divided between Mexico and the United States, including one piece which is housed in a museum in New York.

Nevertheless, the current doomsday panic has spread far beyond Meso-America.
The trend has been fueled in part by movies like “2012″ by Roland Emmerich and books like the novel “The Mayan Testament” by Steve Alten that have cashed in on the fad.

Romero blames Hollywood for a rather fantastical interpretation of the hieroglyphs “without much knowledge of the facts” of Mayan history and culture.
Meanwhile, the belief that the world will end on December 21 has traveled to the far reaches of the globe.
In the Russian city of Tomsk, for example, a company is selling an “Apocalypse kit” that includes food and medicine with a bottle of vodka — or tequila if the customer prefers.
In the French Pyrenees, authorities have temporarily closed access to a mountain in the southwest of the country to avoid throngs of people fleeing from apocalypse.

Indigenous leaders in Mexico, critical of the way the date is being commercialized, have convened a Mayan Peoples Council to focus more on the cultural significance of the new era.

“Like native cultures throughout the world, we want to maintain our cultural identity and preserve our ways of speaking, thinking and seeing the cosmos,” said Mary Coba, a tribal council representative.

“Above all, we want to realize the possibility that, wherever we live, we are respected, and live free of discrimination, violence and poverty.”

She said native people have prepared dignified observances for the new Mayan era, and that ceremonies marking the date would be simple but profound.

“There are no real requirements,” she said. “We just ask that people arrive before five in the morning wearing white clothing and carrying a white candle.”

Man Reports Prostitute To Police, Says She Still Owes Him 10 Minutes

Police in Maine say a man called them to complain a prostitute hadn't given him his money's worth – so they arrested him.

Police say New Hampshire resident Scott Pipher was arrested this week. The 34-year-old is charged with engaging a prostitute.

Old Orchard Beach, Maine, police say Pipher called them March 25 to complain a woman he'd hired "shorted him by 10 minutes."

Police say their investigation also led to the arrests of two women believed to be prostitutes contacted by Pipher through a website.

Pipher is scheduled to be arraigned in Maine District Court in Biddeford next week. Telephone calls to numbers listed for him in Portsmouth, N.H., have gone unanswered.

Nottingham Crown Court heard in August that Fryer, a policeman's son, has the rare condition somnophillia - dubbed 'sleeping princess syndrome'.

He admitted raping Miss Hampson three times between 2008 and 2011. He also pleaded guilty to a separate charge of séxual activity without consent and was jailed for eight years.

The couple moved in together in Nottingham, having met on a night out in 2008, and Fryer was soon taking advantage of Miss Hampson , who struggled emotionally after her father John, 77, being was diagnosed with cancer.

Miss Hampson was drinking more than usual but would wake up on the sofa or in bed without any knickers on and sometimes wearing nail polish or jewellery - but had no memory of falling sleep.

Fryer was arrested after he told a friend about his despicable attacks, with officers later showing the pictures to Miss Hampson and explaining that they believed he had sedated her.

Miss Hampson, who has waived her right to anonymity to speak out, said Fryer had made out she was drinking too much. She described him as a psychopath and believes he got a thrill from the confused.

Miss Hampson told the Sunday People: 'My entire life has been shattered into thousands of tiny pieces and my soul feel broken. I hate him for what he did to me.'

Son beats father to death and mother to coma

THE dream of any worthy parent is to grow old and die peacefully in the hands of a worthy son.

This dream was a mirage not in the case of Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, who was beaten mercilessly with a fire-wood to the point of death by his own biological son, Hassaini Magagi.

The cruel son, Hassaini Magagi, 23, did not also spare his mother, Hajia Hajara Magagi that night. He also brutalised her to until she went into a coma.

The mother was reportedly responding to treatment in a medical centre in the community.

The calamity in Magagi family had gone through the entire Santolo Village in Dawakin Kudu Local Council, which is about 50 kilometres from Kano metropolis. Hajia Hajara cry for help woke everyone in the community, who eventually rescued her from the “killer son,” only for the Good Samaritans to discover that Hassaini had already killed his own father. He has since been arrested by the police.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano ASP Musa Magaji Majiya said the suspect would soon be transferred to criminal department for interrogation and subsequently charge to court.

The Police also confirmed that Hassaini had admitted responsible for the murder of his father and beaten of the mother but could not give reasons he embarked on the gruesome mission.

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno State said its men have killed one of the Boko Haram commanders on its wanted list and gave his name as Abdulkareem Ibrahim.
Spokesman of the JTF, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa who stated this in an emailed statement sent to newsmen said a special raid operation was carried out along Damboa – Biu road by the JTF, members of the Department of State Security and the Nigeria Police Force Dog Section.

“During the operations and in the ensuring fire fight, Abdulkareem Ibrahim and two of his sub Commanders were killed and an AK47 rifle with other arms and ammunition were recovered.

“Abdulkareem was a notorious terrorist commander who has been responsible for the recent spates of assassinations and bomb attacks in Maiduguri. He is one of the top “Amirs” (commander) recently declared in the Bounty list released by the JTF to members of the public,” the statement said.

Sagir said the raid was a follow up operations to the one conducted at Bulabulin area of Maiduguri on 29 November 2012, where the JTF lost a personnel with one other injured.

And NO I'm not bitter or heartbroken, (perhaps I’m a little too happy and full of life), and I have met some amazing men in my lifetime, they are not just a fit for love.

Shocker: Obasanjo Calls For a Revolution

During a recent conference on youth employment in Dakar, Senegal, former President Olusegun Obasanjo shocked his audience by openly calling for a revolution in Nigeria.

Also, it will be recalled that the former President called Nigerians to come out en masse for a Nigerian type “Arab spring (revolution)” during a workshop on economic diversification and revenue generation in December 2011 at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Obasanjo’s call was hinged on the prevailing high rate of youth unemployment, which he estimated to be about 72 per cent. If the audience in Dakar was shocked, then the residents of Warri in Delta State were utterly astonished when he commented on President Goodluck Jonathan’s handling of the crisis in the North.

Most Nigerians are unable to understand why and how a former President could incite the people to the path of revolution as a measure to check unemployment.

They become jittery when such comments come from a retired Army general of the calibre and stature of Obasanjo. His insistence on a revolution has become an unpalatable cliché that Nigerians must decipher.

Obasanjo’s statements are more unsettling because he has unrestrained access to Aso Rock to advise and even brief Jonathan on such issues relating to national security.

Also, he has the opportunity to meet Jonathan one-on-one during their monthly National Council of State meetings in Aso Rock. And so why does the former President rage and attempt to pull down what he has helped in building?

Like all human beings, the former President has his own shortcomings. The most prominent of these is his pay-back mentality for any request scorned or denied.

He believes so much in the myth that he is a superhero. As Nigeria’s patron saint, he believes that he is the best President this country ever had.

Today, Obasanjo’s call for a Nigerian type Arab Spring has revealed his short-sightedness.

The Arab Spring or Arab Uprising started in Tunisia on December 18, 2010 when a Tunisian unemployed graduate Mohamed Bouazizi set himself ablaze to protest police corruption and brutality.
The ensuing protest spread throughout Tunisia with increased violence. The result was that the then Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was forced to flee to Saudi Arabia on January 14, 2011.

The protests spread through North Africa and the Gulf States engulfing Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain and Syria. Echoes of the Arab Spring resounded in Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Djibouti, et cetera.

Today the dregs of the Arab Spring are yet to settle. President Hosni Mubarak was forced to flee on February 11, 2011. And till date, Egypt does not have a stable government as Tahrir Square has become a symbol of the peoples’ solidarity.

Even with the democratic election of President Mohammed Morsy of the Moslem Brotherhood, Egypt is as unstable as an ancient blackboard standing on three legs, with the hind leg broken off.
Obasanjo’s call for a revolution because of youth unemployment is misplaced. People like him should not pray for a revolution, not even for their children because revolutions are cataclysmic, destructive and unpredictable. The no-nonsense former President needs some tutorial on revolutions.

In his recent role as the moderator for Bishop Ayo Oritsejafor’s 40th anniversary on the pulpit, he lambasted President Goodluck Jonathan’s weak response to the Boko Haram crisis.

Obasanjo flaunted his genocidal and criminal demolition of Odi in Bayelsa State, where unidentified militants killed 19 soldiers. Some day, he will appear at the War Crime Tribunal at the Hague to answer for heinous crimes against the residents of Odi.

The former President speaks of unemployment, but he has forgotten that he laid a solid foundation for this by wasting $16bn on electricity generation without any impact on Nigeria’s electricity generation and distribution.

At the time he handed over to the late Umaru Yar’Adua, Nigeria’s electricity megawatts was a paltry 2000 for a population of 140 million people while South Africa boasts 50,0000 megawatts for its 45million people.

Industries started folding up and relocating to Ghana during Obasanjo’s government with hundreds of thousands of workers thrown into the unemployment market. He built a personal library in Abeokuta worth N7bn and coerced Nigeria’s richest businessmen, some of who are his business partners, to bank-roll the project which he cunningly named the Presidential Library Project.

What more can we mention now? Is it the pauperisation of Nigerians due to the increase in the price of commodity items like rice, sugar, cement, flour and noodles, which were licensed to only one man to import, or the quarterly increase in the price of petroleum products?
God save Nigeria.

The bull-whip used by Indiana Jones went under the hammer in London as one of the 160 lots in a sale of music and movie memorabilia which netted a total of £652,950.

 

The whip, famously wielded by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the first three movies of the adventure franchise, fetched £20,000 at the Christie's sale, well above its estimated maximum of £15,000.

The auction catalogue described it as "a hand-made twelve-plait 450 series 6 ft. bull-whip of kangaroo hide, created by whipmaker David Morgan and used by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the Paramount Pictures/Lucasfilm trilogy Raiders Of The Lost Ark, 1981, Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, 1984 and Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, 1989".

Also from the franchise was a chalice used in Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. With a guide price of £2,500 - £3,500 it sold for £11,875.

James Bond items include a house sign from the latest film, Skyfall, which went for £8,750, a sunlounger featured in 1964's Goldfinger (£3,250), and a watch worn by Pierce Brosnan in Tomorrow Never Dies (£10,625).

One of the most flamboyant articles in the sale is a stage outfit worn by Madonna, created by fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier for her famous 1990 Blonde Ambition tour.

It is described as "a couture corset in green silk with conical cups and beaded fringe, embroidered with candy stripes of opalescent sequins and peppermint bugle beads, with clustered sequins and beads".

Christie's expected it to go for up to £15,000 but it reached more than double that figure at £32,450.
Music memorabilia in the sale included a grey cotton shirt worn by John Lennon, which fetched £11,250, and a flamboyant jumpsuit worn on stage by Mick Jagger.

The sequined white velour suit, designed by Ossie Clark for the Rolling Stones' US Tour in 1972, made £20,000.

A damaged cane owned and used by Charlie Chaplin also sold for above its guide price, realising £6,875.

Magician's Head Set On Fire

A US magician has been seriously injured after a TV host set his head on fire live on television.

Wayne Houchin was appearing on a show in the Dominican Republic when, in an apparently unscripted prank, its host dropped flammable liquid on his head, setting him alight.
Houchin's own crew, who were at the show, rushed to save him and put out the flames - but not before he had suffered burns to his head, face, neck and right hand.

The illusionist, who hosts Breaking Magic on the Discovery Channel, was rushed to hospital where he says he is "in pain" but recovering.

Houchin, who was in the country promoting his Curiosidades show, wrote on Facebook after the incident: "I was not aware he was going to do this. This was not a stunt or part of an act - this was a criminal attack.

"The fast actions of the rest of our Curiosidades team saved my life. The fire was put out and I was rushed to the emergency room.

"I have bad burns on my head, face, neck and right hand. I am in pain, but am recovering. I will update you on the situation when I can."

He has continued to report on his progress on Twitter and in one of his more recent posts wrote: "The doctors are cautiously optimistic that I will fully recover with no scars."

He has extended his stay in the Dominican Republic following the incident on Monday so he can remain in hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

The host used a liquid called Aqua De Florida to set Houchin alight.

It is a flammable cologne popular in Latin countries, which is also used as a sacred cleaning spray by shamans and witch doctors in the Caribbean.

Houchin has received hundreds of comments from well-wishers, including from fellow magician David Copperfield who wrote on Twitter: "My thoughts are with you and your family. Best wishes on a swift and complete recovery."

Once described as "a cross between a con man and a street magician", Houchin first came to prominence in 1999 at the age of 16 when he escaped from a straitjacket hanging 50ft above a busy road.

In 2010 he "stopped time" for the Dominican Republic in a live televised illusion.

Shark Attack Victim: 'It Released Me and I Started Swimming as Fast as I Could'

A 61-year-old man from Oregon is recovering from a shark bite he got while snorkeling in Hawaii on Friday.

Tom Kennedy of Lake Oswego, Ore., was snorkeling near a shore in Kihei, Hawaii at about 9:35 a.m., when a 10 foot shark attacked him.

The shark bit Kennedy's left calf. Experts said the shark appeared to be a tiger shark.

"I kept watching behind because I was concerned it would come back again," said Kennedy.

Kennedy said at some point, the shark let go of his leg and he swam as fast as he could to get away.

"It released me and I started swimming as fast as I could…as I went further and started to bleed, I could see I was trailing blood, which was my next concern," Kennedy said.

Kennedy managed to get away from the shark and back onto his paddleboard.

One of his fellow snorkelers, an emergency room nurse, began first aid and helped get him safely back to shore. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Doctors said Kennedy was lucky the bite didn't hit any major arteries.

As he recovers, the bloody bandage on his leg is Kennedy's reminder of just how lucky he is to be alive.

"It could have been this, or you could have been struck by lightning, the odds are about the same," he said.

After Friday morning's incident, officials closed the waters 2 miles in each direction, and will meet Saturday to determine when it's safe for beach goers to go back in.

Boy Kills Father To Save His Mother’s Life

A fight between husband and wife Mr. Christopher and Mrs.Thorpe started on Saturday evening, during a bonfire party. Their son who witnessed the dispute, turned violent and fatally shot his father in a desperate attempt to save his mother’s life.

According to reporters, the couple went inside of a mobile home and an argument ensued. “He was beating her, [he] kept punching her,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter, according to newsmen. “Then they went from the living room to the master bedroom where he kept beating her.”

The couple’s 17-year-old son, Channing Thorpe, ran into the mobile home where he discovered his father strangling his mother, police say. The teen used a handgun to fire several shots at his father to kill him.

The boy’s mother suffered a bullet wound to the thigh, the Tampa Tribune reports. She received treatment at a nearby hospital and was later released.

Hugh Williamson, who lives a few doors down from where the incident took place, was saddened by the violence.

”You hate to wake up and hear things like that much less in your own neighbourhood,” Williamson told newsmen.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the matter. Channing Thorpe was left in the custody of his mother. He is not facing charges.

A 19-year old Zimbabwean girl, famous for claiming that well-known businessman, Themba Hlongwane was having sex with his (Themba’s) employees, has been nabbed on allegations of selling the illicit cocaine drug.

Olga Carlos Joao Barcar subsequently appeared in court, facing a charge of dealing in dangerous drugs after 10g of illicit drug was found stashed in her shoes. She is said to have acknowledged possessing the sustance, claiming that she uses it to lubricate her privates.

The teenager was yanked before Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe, who remanded her out of custody till December 6 for trial on US$200 bail, coupled with strict conditions. She was ordered to surrender her passport and present herself twice a week to the CID drugs section until the matter is finalised.

It is the State’s case that on 23 November at around 6pm, detectives from the CID drugs section received information to the effect that Olga was selling cocaine. The detectives reportedly launched a manhunt and located Olga at Chester Court along Fife Avenue and took her to her home in Mabelreign.

A thorough search was conducted in her bedroom and cream substance suspected to be cocaine was found stashed in her shoes. She allegedly admitted that the powder belonged to her and that she uses it to lubricate her privates. The girl was taken to the police station where the substance was found to be worth US$800 and weighed 10 grams.

The court heard that preliminary tests were done in her presence and proved that the substance was cocaine and it was sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis.

Kinky sex club approved at Harvard College

A club for people who want to discuss kinky sex was approved Friday at the world-renowned Harvard College in Cambridge, Mass.

The Committee on Student Life approved 15 student organizations, including Harvard College Munch.

This group, which began meeting informally a year ago, has grown to about 30 members, according to the school’s student newspaper The Crimson.

Michael, who was granted anonymity by the newspaper, started the club last October.
He told the newspaper that club recognition will provide a sense of relief for current and future members knowing they are receiving institutional support. Munch is described as a low-pressure social gathering for people involved in or interested in BDSM — bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism.

Being officially recognized on campus will allow the group to put up posters for events and promote Munch’s presence. They will also be eligible for funding that will provide food and drinks for their gatherings.

Michael says that most members’ kinks fall on the BDSM spectrum.
Mae, a member of the organization who asked to be identified by her middle name, told the newspaper that the group has made her feel comfortable to discuss her interests.
“I didn’t think that anyone was even remotely interested (in kink) on campus,” Mae told The Crimson. “It’s a community where you can feel safe, and you can feel comfortable talking about (kink).”

Michael, the founder of the club, said the best part of being officially recognized is that it gives the club legitimacy and that “we are being taken seriously.”

Nathalie Miraval, who reported on this story for the Crimson, said this group is only a discussion group.

“It’s not like these kids are coming together to have sex,” she told the Toronto Star in an interview. “They are just trying to open up the discussion about sex on campus.”

Justin J. Lehmiller, a lecturer in Harvard’s psychology department and a sex columnist, said that he believes that students should learn about the diversity in sexual behavior.

“What this group will do is give students who feel outside of the sexual mainstream an opportunity to learn that they are not alone,” he said in an email to the Star.

Lehmiller said he expects there will be a stigma associated with the group and reservations from administrators, faculty staff and other students.

“Sex is a topic that already makes a lot of people feel uncomfortable, and when you add the word “kinky” in front of it, discomfort increases even further,” he said.

It’s important to note, he added, that the organization has a dedicated safety team that has the job of referring students who have been victims of abuse to appropriate health services on campus.

Other approved organizations, who will gain official recognition after completing a workshop on Friday, include the Harvard College Comics Club, the Harvard Undergraduate Mathematics Association, and the Harvard Undergraduate Maternal Health Initiative.

Harvard College is one of two schools within Harvard University.

It is the “original” Harvard, founded in 1636 as the oldest institution of higher education in the United States.

It has about 6,500 undergraduates, with nearly equal numbers of men and women.

Ojukwu’s will: Bianca gets lion’s share

 

Enugu – The will of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, was on Friday presented to the family with his widow, Bianca, getting the lion’s share.

The presentation by the Chief Registrar of the Enugu High Court, Mr Dennis Ekoh, was witnessed by Bianca, Mr Val Nwosu, Ojukwu’s first cousin, and Mr Mike Ejemba.

In the will, the late Ojukwu identified one Tenny Haman as one of his children.
Ojukwu listed the children as Tenny Haman, Chukwuemeka Jnr, Mmegha, Okigbo, Ebele, Chineme, Afam and Nwachukwu.

The Ikemba gave the Casabianca Lodge at No. 7, Forest Crescent, GRA, Enugu, two property at Jabi and Kuje in the FCT as well as all his money and personal effects to his widow.

He also said that Bianca should replace him as the trustee in the family company, Ojukwu Transport Ltd, while also giving her two plots of land in his village at Nnewi.

He, however, added that if she re-married, the land should be taken away from her.
The first son, Emeka Jnr., got the family house at Nnewi, while the newly mentioned daughter, Tenny Haman, got the Jubilee Hotel located in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The Biafran warlord also shared other landed property in the village among all his children.
Ojukwu listed the trustees and executors of the will to include Bianca, Emeka Jnr and Mr James Chukwuneme.

Reacting to the will, Bianca, who is Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, expressed satisfaction with its contents.
“It was a fair will. This time round, he did not disappoint us,’’ she said.

The ambassador, however, expressed shock at the disclosure of a new daughter in the family, whom she said had never been mentioned by her husband.

Nigerian basketball player shot dead 'after trying to rob a home in Texas'

29 year old Chinedu Onyeuku, a former D'Tigers of Nigeria player, was shot dead in an alleged botched burglary in a home in Texas on November 21.

Police say Chinedu, who played for the Nigerian team that qualified for this year's Olympic Games in London, was trying to break into a home on Rio Grande Street in Plano, Texas with an accomplice when he was shot dead by the home owner.

Chinedu and another individual allegedly entered the house by breaking the glass patio door. The home owner shot Chinedu, killing him instantly, while his accomplice escaped.

The Nigeria Basketball Federation posted a statement saying that the 29-year-old athlete played basketball for the team that qualified for the London 2012 Olympics. However, Onyeuku was not on the Olympic roster and did not actually compete.

Man Jailed For 7 Years For Having Séx With Daughter

An Oredo Magistrate Court in Benin yesterday sentenced a 47-year-old man, Godwin Allu, to seven years imprisonment with hard labour for having séx with his daughter.

The accused who pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of having unlawful carnal knowledge of his 12-year-old daughter, Blessing, was said to have committed an offense punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap. 48 Vol. II of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976 as applicable in Edo State.

Prosecuting counsel, Miss. Loretta Asaka, told the court that on November 20, 2012, one Mrs. Verlaine Enemaku reported the case at the charge room of the Central Juvenile Welfare Centre of the Nigeria Police in Benin, after being told by the Headmistress of Obaseki Primary School, Benin, that blood stains were discovered on the victim’s uniform.

The complainant said upon interrogation, the victim told the head mistress that her father had séx with her three times on different occasions. It was gathered that the victim, who was admitted and treated at the Benin Central Hospital was later discharged and taken to an orphanage.

Delivering judgment in the case, Chief Magistrate Peter Asemota, who expressed gladness that the accused voluntarily pleaded guilty to the crime, pronounced him guilty as charged.

Asemota, who observed that cases of séxual offenses were on the increase in her jurisdiction, said it was necessary for the court to join other stakeholders in taking a serious stand against the vice.

“For this reason, the convict must be put out of circulation for sometime so that he would not be able to continue with his bestial activities,” the magistrate said.

The court thereafter sentenced the accused to seven years imprisonment with hard labour and no option of fine

Unfortunately she passed away on the 30th of October, 2012 due to a mild stroke caused by the high blood pressure which she'd been suffering from before arriving at the penitentiary. She died at the hospital for women inside the penitentiary in Brazil.

No family member came for her body so she was buried at the Vila Formosa Municipal Graveyard in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The trip to Brazil was actually her first time out of Nigeria, and some heartless people decided to use her as a drug courier without her knowledge. She died in that country and was buried there. Truly sad!

30-Year-Old Man Threatens To Slice His Mother’s Private Parts

A Harare based violent son has been thrown behind bars for 13 months for thumping his 52-year-old mother before threatening to slice her privates.

Obert Mutekwa (30), of Kuwadzana Extension, had denied the charge of physical abuse when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Arnold Maburo but was later convicted after a full trial. The magistrate sentenced him to seven months in prison while an additional six months that had been set aside for a similar conviction were effected. The man will now languish in prison for 13 months.

State counsel Tendai Shonhayi had it that on 26 October at around 7.30am, Obert was having a misunderstanding with his sister. His mother Ever, tried to intervene and settle the matter by confronting him but he could not stomach the approach.

The State had it that before his mother could take any action, Obert quickly bashed her. It is the State’s case that he further hauled obscenities at her citing that he wanted to stab her private parts.

According to a programme monitored by our correspondent on Silverbird’s Rythm 94.7FM Abuja, ritualists took advantage of the just concluded Cultural/Tourism Fiesta in Abuja Tagged, ‘Abuja Carnival 2012 – Carnival of Peace and Harmony’, to perpetrate their evil plans.

These ungodly people disguised as beggars seeking alms from unsuspecting carnival attendees, to unexplainably steal their sight and vital body organs.

One of such incidences occured last Saturday, when a woman supposedly gave alms to a beggar who approached her in the front passenger’s seat of her husband’s car, only for her to discover that she couldn’t see with her eyes anymore.

She immediately raised alarm which attracted sympathizers including policemen and together with her husband, they apprehended the said beggar. After much prodding, the beggar reportedly revealed that he was part of a larger cartel of beggars who were at the carnival with instructions to carry out ritual acts.

When asked what could be done to reinstate the woman’s sight, the beggar reportedly gave the woman back her money and asked her to rub same on her eyes and voila! Her sight was instantly restored.
